Khalil Riad Rizk was born in Beirut, Lebanon, the son of a wealthy industrialist, went to the US in 1975, and graduated from Cornell University Architectural School and Columbia University Business School. With Pierre Durand he founded the Chinese Porcelain Company in 1984; he also founded the International Asian Art Fair. 'He loved the New York social life unabashedly.'
